One of a Kind

Monique van Nieuwland is a skilled weaver with over 40 years of experience. Her practice embraces contemporary techniques and materials, keeping loom weaving fresh and relevant as an expressive medium. Focused on themes of the environment and human existence, Monique also creates bespoke woven wearables. She has received commissions for weaving in interior designs as well as for costumes and set designs in films. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Monique teaches weaving and has exhibited her work in both national and international textile exhibitions. She is an Accredited Professional Member (APM) of Craft and Design Canberra.
